Navigation

• Click on links to recommendations in Sidebar box to the right for reviews.
• Click on HOME button to return to front page.
• Use the Search Here box in the upper right corner to search for words in the reviews.
• Click on Search by Tag to browse and click all the tags used in this wiki.

Professors, if you want to get started on your own please note...

• In the Sidebar, create a linked heading worded: YOUR NAME'S Recommendations (first and last name are best)
• Make separate pages for each recommendation and link them to the heading above so that when you click on YOUR NAME's Recommendations a page will appear with a listing of all your recommendations. Click on Maureen DL's Recommendations for an example.
• Realize that a wiki is a work in progress and all contributors have the ability to edit other pages. Please don't change the content of someone else's page, but do correct typos. Ask permission from the author before making other appropriate edits. We wiki administrators may add locational information to your review, e.g. the library call number, or make the title of your book a clickable link to a book seller like Barnes and Noble or Amazon if you haven't done so already.

Read on for basic directions or go to newfaq.pbwiki.com/ where you'll find details on how to add pictures, outside links and more to this wiki. Other helpful sites are PBwiki Central and the PBwiki forums.

Directions for Creating a Wiki Page

 

Begin the process in the Sidebar. This is where the heading John Doe's Recommendations goes which becomes a link to all of John Doe's review pages. (Please note that pbwiki offers two modes for editing: the classic mode and the point and click mode. The directions below are for the point and click mode, but be aware that some of the FAQs above refer to the classic mode. You can easily switch between editing modes by clicking on the link "Switch to ... Mode" at the top right of an edit page.)

Edit Sidebar

• Click on "edit"
• Click "Link" button
• In the pop-up window, make sure "Link type"=Wiki Page and "Link to New Page"=new page
• In "New Page Name" box type YOUR NAME's Recommendations (substituting your name for YOUR NAME)
• The Link Text box should say the same as above.
• Click Save and you will see YOUR NAME'S Recommendation with a red dashed underline
• Click on the link with the red dashed underline
• In the new window, click on "Create New Page"

This new page is your "Index" page which will consist of a list of all your reviews. (Do the above steps only once. Hereafter, when you add reviews start in this index page and follow the directions below.) To maintain consistency throughout the wiki use the following format when creating titles for your review pages: YOUR NAME Recommends TITLE (or partial title)

Creating Your Review Pages

• Get to your "Index" page by clicking on YOUR NAME's Recommendations in sidebar.
• Click on "Edit Page"

• In the new page click "Link" button
• In the pop-up window, make sure "Link type"=Wiki Page and "Link to New Page"=new page
• In "New Page Name" box type YOUR NAME Recommends TITLE (or partial title). Example: John Recommends Alphabeasts
• Click "Save" and you will see YOUR NAME Recommends TITLE with a red dashed underline
• Click on link
• In the new window, click on "Create New Page"

This blank page is where you type your recommendation. When done, Save.

Oops! I Need to Delete My Review

• Go to the Wiki Information section at the bottom of the Home page.
• Click on "Show All Pages"
• Click on the plus sign (+) in front of your page
• Choose the option to delete

Note: If you no longer have any review pages attached to your linked heading, YOUR NAME'S Recommendations in the Sidebar, that heading will appear as a red dashed underline link. Once you attach a review page the line will disappear. If you want to remove yourself from the wiki completely, after deleting your review pages, remove YOUR NAME'S Recommendations from the Sidebar by clicking on edit and deleting the heading.

Tags

Tags are keywords or phrases associated with your review.  Click on Search by Tag in the Sidebar for a clickable list of all tags used in this wiki. Alternately, click on a tag from a review page to bring up a list of pages that carry the same tag. Tags enhance your review. Please add. If you don't, the administrators will!

To Add Tags

• Notice the heading "Page Information" in the bottom left corner of your review page
• Notice the "No Tags Yet" heading
• Click on the plus sign (+) and type your tag in the box
• Enter
• Repeat for more tags
• Delete tag by positioning cursor over tag and clicking on the red "X" that appears
